Description:
Correctly interpret basic concepts in the field of youth pedagogy
Critically analyse the most important biological, psychological, and social determinants of youth
Problematize youth within different social contexts (family, school, leisure)
Be familiar with the basics of pedagogical work with youth

Learning outcomes at the level of the programme to which the course contributes:
- Identify and expose human development of a human being, including its fundamental characteristics, special features, protective and risk factors, as well as environmental factors and apply educational knowledge and skills with the aim of promoting positive development, independence, self-respect, creativity, talent, prevention, intervention and treatment of personas with behavioural problems.
- Interpret education in light of: education sciences (pedagogy), personalization, socialization and enculturation of a human being impact on health, psychomotor, cognitive, moral, perceptive, motivational and social dimensions of a person and rights and obligations of a child, person being educated, mother, father, adoptive or foster parent, educator, teacher and associate staff.
- Classify and critically examine different sources of knowledge from the area of education sciences and, on the basis of the findings, encourage organizational and planning skills and propose the content within family, institutional and leisure-time pedagogy.
- Plan and anticipate reflection and self-reflection within educational activities of effective oral and written communication with students, parents, fellow teachers and professional staff and anticipate, identify and solve a particular pedagogical problem.
- Interpret educational course within the scope of pedagogical, rational, moral, ethical, bioethical, legal and psychological norms and justify the importance of education accordingly for development of individuals, family, nation and society as a whole.
- Build, validate and justify an expert in education sciences that meets the criteria for autonomous development and holistic formation to become a true intellectual, while advancing the virtues of humankind, truthfulness, honesty, justice and rightfulness, human and civilizational values, unity, cooperation, solidarity, helping others, accountability, care for others, mutual trust based on tolerance and focus on improving the overall welfare of the Croatian society.

Expected learning outcomes at the level of the course:
- define and classify the basic concepts of youth pedagogy
- explain the socio-historical determinants of youth
- explain the developmental characteristics of youth
- examine the forms and causes of youth behaviour characteristics
- problematize the characteristics of the relationship of youth with the most important socializing agents (family, school, peers, leisure, media)
- assess the possibilities and modes of educational action on the course of youth development

3. Physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development of youth
4. Identity formation
5. Development of moral values
6. Behaviours and attitudes related to health
7. Youth peer relationships. Youth romantic relationships
8. Youth values and behaviours related to sexuality
9. Youth leisure. The role of the media in the lives of youth
10. Youth behavioural disorders. Addictions
11. Youth and formal education. Professional orientation and entering the labour market
12. Youth and relationships with parents
13. Pedagogical work with youth in school and leisure
14. Youth in a broader social context. Youth as a problem and youth as a resource

Hrvatski studiji Sveučilišta u Zagrebu pokrenuti su i ustrojeni 16. studenoga 1992., isprva samo kao dvosemestralni Sveučilišni komparativni studij hrvatske filozofije i društva. Taj je program potom preoblikovan u program redovitog četverogodišnjeg studija.
