Assist. Prof. Vlatko Smiljanić, PhD is a university teacher at the Department of Croatology, Faculty of Croatian Studies, University of Zagreb, chosen in the scientific field of Croatology. He was born on July 7, 1995, in Virovitica, where he attended primary and secondary school. He completed his studies in History at the Faculty of Croatian Studies, University of Zagreb, in 2020. During his studies, he distinguished himself as a student demonstrator, recipient of the excellence scholarship from the Virovitica-Podravina County, and was awarded student prizes such as the Rector's Award (2020), Dean's Award (2020), and several other recognitions. He is the author of two books and a co-author of one, as well as several edited volumes and collections of works, notable in the fields of history and croatology. He has also contributed to numerous scholarly and professional works on historical and croatological topics. He earned his academic title of Doctor of Humanities in 2023 by defending his dissertation titled "The Life and Works of Mirko Danijel Bogdanić from 1760 to 1802," under the mentorship of Academician and Full Professor Stjepan Ćosić, PhD, with the highest honors (summa cum laude). From 2020 to 2024, he worked as a associate at the Research Institute, after which he was employed as an assistant professor at the Department of Croatology, Faculty of Croatian Studies, University of Zagreb. Additionally, since July 10, 2023, he has served as the managing editor of the scientific journal Kroatologija.
